The First Days of October | A Quiet Day in Our Countryside Home 🍂 The mornings are getting colder, the first light frost is on its way, and I decided to gather the last tomatoes from our garden before the first frost arrives and preserve them for the winter. It was a busy autumn day at our country home — feeding our growing little pigs, spending some time with the dogs, cleaning the overgrown fence along our neighbour’s side, and watching my husband turn all the cut acacia branches into mulch. By lunchtime, I went back inside to prepare a warm pumpkin soup, pork neck and roasted zucchini and carrots for the family. I wasn’t feeling completely well this week after several days with a fever, but thankfully my girls confirmed that lunch turned out delicious. 🤍 In the afternoon, Arianna and I gathered walnuts from the garden, and later Arianna and her dad planted two new blackcurrant bushes. Our old bush had unfortunately been removed when the garden was being worked on, so we are starting again and hoping to have our own blackcurrants next year. 🌿 As evening arrived and the October temperatures dropped, I lit the fireplace and we settled into a quiet evening at home.
