There are 2 types of alopecia that you will encounter in the clinical setting. They are: Non-scarring Alopecia and Scarring Alopecia. The difference between the 2 is when the symptoms related to non-scarring alopecia are addressed appropriately, the hair has a higher chance of growing back. With Scarring alopecia, the follicle is damaged and scar tissue forms in the epidermal layer of the scalp so hair is unable to grow back. When you become a Trichologist, you know how to recognize, analyze and provide recommendations for various types of hair loss.
