The Story of LASK Linz: The 61-Year Journey Back to the Top

The Story of LASK Linz: The 61-Year Journey Back to the Top For decades, LASK Linz had to look back to 1965. That was the year the club became the first team from outside Vienna to win the Austrian league and cup in the same season. It was supposed to be the beginning of a new era. Instead, LASK would wait 61 years for the chance to do it again. In this video, we follow the incredible story of LASK Linz, from their origins in the early 20th century, to their historic 1965 double, unforgettable European nights against clubs like Inter Milan and Manchester United, and the difficult years that saw the club fall down the Austrian football pyramid. We then look at LASK's remarkable rebuild, their return to Austria's top flight, their rise into European football, the opening of the Raiffeisen Arena, and the 2026 season that finally brought the Austrian double back to Linz. And the story didn't end there. After winning the league and cup in 2026, LASK went on to achieve another historic milestone by reaching the Champions League league phase for the first time in the club's history. From champions, to crisis, to the lower divisions, and finally back to the top. This is the story of LASK Linz. The Black-and-Whites.
