This week’s Muay Thai Pads & Partner Drills curriculum focuses on using head movement to defend punches while staying in position to counter. We break down slipping the jab and cross to the outside, using a compact peekaboo-style guard, and immediately countering after the slip. We also work on weaving underneath hooks with a tight U-shaped motion to create strong angles for offense. The goal is to understand why head movement can be so useful: instead of relying on your hands to parry or block every punch, slips and weaves can keep your hands available to counter, make your opponent miss and become off-balance, and help you create angles that can be difficult to find otherwise. We also cover some of the risks of head movement in Muay Thai—especially weaving underneath punches when knees are a threat—and why keeping the movement small, controlled, and efficient matters. Use this video to review this week’s Fighting Fit Muay Thai curriculum and get extra reps on your slips, weaves, counters, and angles.
