Ordinary Men Doing Extraordinary Things | Part 1 Sunday First Service | 6th September 2026 | Dr. Abel Damina What if the next move of God in your life doesn't require perfect credentials — only a yielded, ordinary heart? In Part 1 of "Ordinary Men Doing Extraordinary Things," Dr. Abel Damina opens to 2 Corinthians 4:7 to show that the treasure of God's power is deliberately housed in "earthen vessels" — frail, ordinary human bodies — so that the excellency of the power is seen to be of God and not of us. Beginning from Ephesians 4 and Romans 12, he teaches that healthy spiritual growth is never self-centered: it always shows up as active, willing participation in ministry and service to others. He then walks through two of Scripture's most celebrated "ordinary men." Elijah (James 5:17) is shown to be a man "subject to like passions as we are" — the same man who shut up the heavens for three and a half years and outran a king's chariot also fled in terror from Jezebel and asked God to take his life. Jacob is shown carrying the covenant blessing of Abraham and Isaac while still wrestling with fear of his brother, being deceived by his own sons, doubting good news, and going blind in old age. Even Peter and John, described in Acts 4:13 as "unlearned and ignorant men," shook their world after being with Jesus. The message closes with a practical, personal challenge: growth costs something, contentment protects a minister from compromise, and every excuse not to serve can be surrendered the same way these ordinary men surrendered theirs. If you have ever felt too flawed, too weak, or too ordinary to be used by God, this teaching removes every excuse.
