Settle & Carlisle Diversions 2002

23/03/2002 - The last ever Saturday of WCML diversions via Settle to feature Virgin Cross-Country loco-hauled services and regular HSTs. Virgin West Coast and XC services were diverted onto the Long Drag over a series of weekends, due to WCML modernisation for Pendolinos. Includes various Class 47s including 'Royal' 47 798, 37 612 on standby, an HST and double-headed Class 60s. It would also be the last year of diversions to feature intensive 47-haulage, as the following year would bring '57s' to many of the trains. An era never to be repeated! Apologies for the camera shake. Unfortunately, not all shots taken that day could be included here; with several more '47s plus an 8-car Virgin Voyager. Several were ruined due to tracking problems as the old 1989-bought camcorder was on its way out.
