Anderson’s infamous cult classic sci-fi nightmare: Event Horizon. When this film landed in cinemas nearly 30 years ago, it was a box office flop and critically panned. But over the decades, it has carved out a massive, legendary status as the ultimate "haunted house in deep space." It’s been forever since we’ve sat down to watch Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill venture into the void—so how does it stack up today? Is the tale of a ship that literally folded space-time to visit Hell still as terrifying, claustrophobic, and gruesome as it was in the late 90s? Or do the CGI, 90s action tropes, and notorious production history pull it down? WARNING: FULL SPOILERS AFTER OUR INITIAL THOUGHTS! 🩸 In This Episode: Guilty Pleasure Status: Why we love this movie despite its chaotic theatrical release history. The Non-Spoiler Verdict: First impressions on the Gothic sets, practical suits, and atmospheric dread. 🚨 SPOILER ZONE UNLOCKED 🚨: "Liberate Tutemet Ex Inferis": Translating the terrifying video log from the original crew. Sam Neill’s Descent into Madness: Dr. Weir’s shift from brilliant scientist to eyeball-gouging, possessed hell-pope. Laurence Fishburne’s Captain Miller: Why Miller is one of the most practical, sensible horror captains in cinema history. The Lost Cut: Discussing the mythical, ultra-violent director’s cut that was lost forever in a Transylvanian salt mine. The Legacy: Did Event Horizon set the bar for cosmic horror, Dead Space, and modern sci-fi thrillers? *Join the conversation in the comments! Make sure to Like/Subscribe/Follow and leave us a review!
