THE TERMINATOR 1984: PROJECT KAGAMI | Cyberdyne’s Secret Human Prediction Program Cyberdyne’s story did not end in Los Angeles. In this second chapter of THE TERMINATOR 1984: CYBERDYNE SERIES, recovered technology leads Cyberdyne Systems far beyond its American laboratories — to Osaka, Japan, where a new research division begins exploring electronics, arcade systems and human behavior. Under Dr. Kenji Takamura, an experimental program known as PROJECT KAGAMI begins collecting something far more valuable than high scores. Reaction times. Movement patterns. Mistakes. Corrections. Changes in strategy. By comparing thousands of player responses, Kagami slowly develops the ability to predict what a human being is likely to do next — milliseconds before the action is completed. What begins as arcade research soon attracts attention for applications far beyond entertainment. But there is another problem. The computers of 1984 are not fast enough. More memory, additional processor boards and parallel systems only create more heat, more complexity and more delays. Cyberdyne realizes that the machine Kagami needs does not yet exist. Then the project begins moving back toward Los Angeles. For a moment, it appears the Osaka chapter is over. Several weeks later, a call from Cyberdyne Systems America changes everything. Miles Dyson gives Takamura a new assignment. Officially, it is a consumer electronics project: MIRAI VECTOR-8. A home video game system intended for domestic use and rental through video stores — allowing the same hardware to reach dozens of different players. But behind the games is another purpose. Every session can generate behavioral data. And through the VECTOR-LINK telephone adapter, that information can return to Cyberdyne. The arcade experiment has entered the home. And Project Kagami keeps learning. One player at a time. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ CHAPTERS 00:00 — Recovered Technology 00:52 — Cyberdyne Systems Japan 01:48 — Osaka Advanced Systems Division 02:35 — Arcades Become Data 03:24 — Project Kagami 04:25 — Predicting Human Behavior 05:31 — Beyond Video Games 06:20 — The Hardware Problem 07:18 — Cyberdyne Needs a New Machine 08:03 — Transfer to Los Angeles 08:31 — Several Weeks Later 08:45 — Miles Dyson Calls Takamura 09:03 — Mirai Vector-8 09:28 — Vector-Link 09:42 — Kagami Keeps Learning ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ THE TERMINATOR 1984 — CYBERDYNE SERIES CHAPTER 02: PROJECT KAGAMI An unofficial cinematic expansion inspired by the world and technological mythology of The Terminator (1984).
