The 49ers NEED to Cut Eddy Piñeiro

The 49ers just took their first loss of the season, and the kicker is taking the heat. After a rough day of missed extra points, Joe Spadoni says it’s over for Eddy Pineiro in San Francisco. He wants him cut right now, and he’s not budging. The case is simple. Once a kicker loses the confidence of his own team, there’s no coming back. We saw it with Jake Moody, and the argument is that it’s happening again. A four-year deal means nothing in the NFL, the money is already gone, and if the coaching staff doesn’t trust the guy, it changes how they play on third down, how they call fourth down, and whether they kick extra points at all. The hosts also get into whether Kyle Shanahan should have gone for two if the 49ers had scored late, and what it says that this is even a debate. From there we get into Shanahan’s comments on special teams being “not equal” to the offense and defense, the back-to-back fumbles that seemed to drain the team’s confidence, and a caller who joins the conversation to talk about CMC’s usage and a possible blockbuster trade for Garrett Wilson. Is it time to cut Eddy Pineiro, or is this an overreaction to one bad game? Would you have gone for two?
