When I get a new synth I compose a Dark Ambient etude (study) using only that synth. This helps me learn how to use the new synth and give me a deeper understanding of its inner workings. I never share these explorations, because of their experimental, fractured and exploratory nature. "Texture Loom" broke that tradition, by being extremely easy to use and yielded a complex and delicious piece of ambient music quite quickly. "Texture Loom" is a sample-based instrument for textures and soundscapes, created by Chris of S1gns of L1fe (see below for links). Because its sound source is sample based, I wanted to test it by using free, purchased and my own created samples, therefore I ran "Texture Loom" through its paces, by using samples that would include various sonic qualities, fidelities and various methods of creating them, as well as professional and amateur sound captures.
