Someone Stole Our Boat and Took It to Cuba. So We Went to Get It

On July 9, 2025, a customer rented one of our boats from Beach Weekend Key West Marina for two days. The GPS showed it crossing into Cuban waters. They weren't coming back. So we went to get it This is the full story: leaving Key West at 4:30 in the morning on a second boat, crossing the Florida Straits to Havana, eight hours held at Cuban immigration with paperwork both governments had already cleared, a congressman and the U.S. Coast Guard working the phones from Washington, Cuba releasing us but keeping the boat, then reversing just before midnight — and a Coast Guard cutter with five fast boats meeting us in the dark 12 miles off the U.S. coast on the way home. We had every document they asked for. Once we stepped on land, it all changed.
