National Prayer Day 2019: Holy Mass at the Village of Mary, Subukia

The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops made a strong statement on their fight against corruption and all its forms it uses to embezzle the country's economy. During this year's National Prayer Day celebrated at the Village of Mary in Subukia, Nakuru County on the 5th day of October, 2019, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) made a historic move to convey their strong message against corruption, an evil that has thrived so well and eaten the country's economy for decades. In the event that was preceded by Holy Mass attended by close to 100,000 faithfuls/pilgrims, the Bishops led by the Papal Representative to Kenya and South Sudan, Your Excellency the Nuncio Hubertus Matheus van Megel, the Conference of Bishops walked across the Holy Altar barefoot to make strong their message. A combined statement was read out by the Chairman of the Conference and a unanimous decision made and signed by each Bishop to fight against all forms of corruption in all the various ministries and Church circles/platforms. The Clergy also vowed to root out all corrupt attempts in the society and asked the faithful to do the same. The Church's stand was further stamped by a small Cross that the Bishops held up and a Green Ribbon pinned on each vestment signify this brave decision which would always remind them of their renewed commitment.
