China ended 2025 with roughly 50,400 kilometers of high-speed railway after opening another 2,862 kilometers during the year. This documentary explains the physical construction system behind that scale.
The story follows a line from route geometry through viaduct piers, precast beams, launching machines, ballastless slab track, traction power, signaling, testing, and maintenance. It also shows why standardized pieces, mobile production facilities, specialized crews, and a continuing program of projects matter more than any single train.
Figures were checked against the latest cited official and institutional releases available during production on August 19, 2026.
