LIVE Techno In A Taiwanese Market - Tsaro

Behind Tsaro are Nick Tsai and Taro. This performance took place in the Chiayi East Market. The market, established over 100 years ago, is one of the city's oldest traditional markets, dating back to the Japanese period. It's well known for bustling atmosphere, with scooters navigating through the crowded aisles and stalls. Tsaro wanted to showcase their newest hypnotic techno modular live set in a local environment. Tsai, a musician based in Taichung, Taiwan has spent years shaping a unique modular ambient style. He fuses natural sounds and pulsating waveforms to breathe life into his live sets. He has played the Tokyo Festival of Modular, scored films, exhibitions and travels around Asia and Europe to perform his work. Taro a producer originally from the US, was shaped by his 5 years in the Berlin techno scene before moving to Taiwan. What stayed with him were the live sets. His music spans techno, electro, breaks and ambient. Taro’s music has been played by DJs including Piezo and Upsammy with releases on ANKR (TW) and Baroque Sunburst (UK). Together they have performed sets across Asia and have focused on hypnotic techno. They played live in Japan, at DAO in Taichung, at the Sonic Wanderings Festival, Final Taipei and here at Chiayi’s East Market.
