House MD - How To Save a Life (H/Stacy)

He always does what he thinks is right and does whatever is necessary to save his patients. When he is the patient though, Stacy turns into his own "House", and he wakes up bitter. Stacy IS House, in the sense that she did what was right and what was sure to save his life. And he hates to admit that, so he pushes her away. He has to know now what his patients feel like. When Mark is the one in danger, House is his usual self, being the "Stacy" that was present in HIS original situation. Now he can see it through her eyes, and see himself from the OUTside, and finally understand how stubborn he REALLY was. It proves that he would have done the SAME THING to himself, had he been his own patient... if that makes sense. Now, the words. "I would have stayed up with you all night..."--I apply this to Stacy & House and have roughly translated it to mean "I would still be with you, today, tomorrow, until the end of time..." "...had I known how to save a life."--To me, this shows guilt for both parties. ***Stacy wishes she could have "saved a life" the RIGHT way (that didn't end up making House push her away), by possibly taking a chance on him and trusting his judgment (she trusts him with Mark, why didn't she trust him with himself?).. because for House, his diginity, pride and confidence in his diagnoses are HIS "life". ***House wishes he wouldn't have been too stubborn to "save his OWN life" so that Stacy wouldn't have had to deal with that in the first place. There's lots of regret, lots of guilt, and I can imagine them both shaking their heads and thinking "if only i'd known how to save a life". They both wish they would have done the exact OPPOSITE of what they did.
