Slice Seeding vs. Aeration & Overseeding

In this video, Matt explains the difference between Slice Seeding and Aeration and Overseeding. The big difference is Slice Seeding helps establish turf, but provides none of the benefits of aeration. We typically only recommend this service if you have 50% or LESS of turf grass. It is very agressive and hard on the lawn. So if you have a decent stand of grass, you would want to opt for aeration. Aeration and Seeding is very beneficial for the lawn. It does thing like: alleviate compacted soil, allows better penetration of oxygen/nutrients/water into the rootzone of the soil, it also helps break down thatch layers. Now this is not a replacement for dethatching. When slice seeding we install seed at 10 pounds per thousand and only 5 pounds per thousand when aerating.
