MASSIVE RECYCLING PLANT FIRE - 60 fire engines on scene!

Fire responses and on scene footage of a massive recycling plant fire in northern Poland. Today, at around 12:30 p.m., a fire broke out at a waste processing facility in Chlewnica, Słupsk County. The fire spread to four halls with a total area of approximately 5,000 m², an office building, waste sorting residues, and a pile of waste covering around 2 hectares. Around 60 fire engines and more than 200 firefighters are currently involved in the operation. The response is being led by the Pomeranian Regional Commander of the State Fire Service, Brigadier General Jacek Niewegłowski. Also taking part are, among others, the Regional Headquarters operational group, a drone team, a specialist chemical and environmental rescue unit from Gdynia, command and communications vehicles, and medical support. Conditions at the scene are extremely difficult. During the operation, seven firefighters required medical assistance, most likely due to heat exhaustion. One of them also suffered a sprained ankle and went to the hospital emergency department. There have been no reports of injuries among civilians or other people outside the emergency services. Employees of the facility are also assisting with the firefighting operation. Using heavy machinery, they are dismantling sections of the halls and removing waste, allowing firefighters to reach further hotspots. The material that is removed is then thoroughly soaked with large amounts of water.
