Recently I've been on a bit of a health kick, so today I'm having a cheat day. I flew back to England, filled a bag with my favourite British snacks and brought them home to Spain to try for you. In this video I taste nine of them, from Monster Munch and pork scratchings to Jaffa Cakes, chocolate digestives and crumpets, and give each one a score out of 10. One gets a perfect 10. One gets a 1 and nearly makes me swear. Along the way you'll learn lots of natural British English for talking about food: words like moreish, savoury, soggy and chewy, slang like minging and rancid, and expressions like "it's not my cup of tea", "a rip-off" and "to pig out". You'll also hear the difference between British and American English (crisps or chips? sweets or candy?) and pick up a bit of British culture, including how long you should dunk a biscuit in your tea. Download the free PDF worksheet that goes with this video, with the full transcript, exercises and answers: https://instant-english.kit.com/f671d... What's the best snack from your country, and what would you give it out of 10? Let me know in the comments. I'm Chris, a British English teacher from Oxford.
