He wrongly misattributes it as his fault that the relationship ended. It gives us an insight into the kind of shame that one goes through, putting blame inwards, for things like breakup. I personally do not think it was his fault that she left, but we certainly see the effect the addiction has on his mind. I think it is very brave of him to admit this to everyone. Nicholas talks about how she was the first person who ever made him feel truly loved, and he expresses deep pain for the relationship ending. He didn't realize how much his actions were hurting himself until it was too late. We also see how jynxzi went through extreme hardship to get to his twitch success with failure and doubt.
