Route Description and Fun Facts It’s July 2025, and Stockholm is buzzing with summer energy. This walk takes you through one of the city’s most iconic boulevards — Kungsgatan — stretching from Vasagatan, near Central Station, all the way to Stureplan. Expect city life, classic architecture, and people watching at its finest. Starting Point: Vasagatan Begin at Vasagatan, just by the end of Kungsbron close to the Central station. This area is a major transit hub, but also the gateway to Kungsgatan’s grand entrance. The summer streets are alive with tourists, locals, and the hum of city life. Passing Hötorget & the Filmstaden Saga Walking east, you’ll pass Hötorget, one of Stockholm’s liveliest squares. In summer, the market is full of fresh berries, flowers, and local produce. Behind the square, you'll spot the classic neon-lit Filmstaden Saga cinema, a true retro landmark that’s still standing in 2025. Kungstornen – The Twin Towers As you continue, you’ll walk between the Kungstornen (The King's Towers), completed in the 1920s. These were Stockholm’s first “skyscrapers,” inspired by New York’s architecture. In the summer sunshine, their symmetrical silhouette gives Kungsgatan an almost cinematic feel. Vibrant Street Life & Sidewalk Cafés Kungsgatan is home to everything from flagship stores to tiny espresso bars tucked into side alleys.
