The Sweet were one of the biggest bands of the glam rock era, emerging from London in the late 1960s. Fronted by the flamboyant Brian Connell, they became famous for their outrageous costumes, powerful harmonies and catchy rock anthems. Their breakthrough came with hits such as “Wig-Wam Bam,” “Block Buster!” and “Hell Raiser.” In 1973, “Ballroom Blitz” became an international hit and remains their signature song. The Sweet later moved towards a harder rock sound, but their colourful image and string of memorable singles in the 70s secured their place as glam rock legends.
