This project replaces and extends 'Michael' (2010):
'This Is It' became a big word for music history when Michael Jackson announced a comeback concert redidency in London and called it 'This Is It!'. With his passing, weeks before the first show, it became a symbol. Rehearsels together with behind the scenes footage build the movie 'Michael Jackson's This Is It'. Ticket sales for the film broke international records just as the concert ticket sales did before. It remains the most successful concert film-documentary ever.
'This Is It' is the last era of Michael Jackson's life, surrounding his death and starting were the 'Invincible' era ended, after the final release of 'What More Can I Give'. The November 2003 single release 'One More Chance', which came paired and simultaneously with the successful greatest hits 'Number Ones', saw a posthumous video release. The shooting of the music video was never finished by Michael himself. The progress was disturbed, because of 'The Trial'. It's original chart potential couldn't be reached due to rising media and mass hysteria. 'One More Chance' is the last brand new single released during his lifetime. The music video is also his last music video and the first with new footage to be released posthumously.
'The Trial' is no musical era but a big black hole in Michael's personal and professional life. An era was interrupted before it even started. After 'The Trial' Michael wrote and recorded more and more again, but secretive in Home Studios. Michael originally wanted to leave the big musical entertainment and showbusiness since his 'HIStory World Tour' to concentrate on filmmaking, selfmarketing and global businesses. 'The Trial' destroyed his most amazing big plans. After 'Invincible', it was his musical agenda to only release great non-album singles.
June 25th, 2009 shocked the world.
After his death the grandios and shy, romantic pop balad 'This Is It (aka I Never Heard)' became the anthem of an era and one comforter for fans at the time. This single was followed by reproduced posthumous songs, Michael wanted to rework, released on the 2010 album 'Michael'. Because of it's controversy - the album lists to this day three fake songs ('Cascio Tracks'), which Michael Jackson did not sang, but an vocal impersonator called Jason Malachi - it is replaced and expanded by this project.
'This Is It' follows up 'Invincible' and contains all works from before and shortly after his death. On the one side it shows a humble and mature side with rare unreleased recordings, nobody ever was meant to hear, and on the other side it is the first part of his posthumous aftermath with fiery hits and chart topper, just as 'Hollywood Tonight', 'Behind The Mask' and 'Hold My Hand' ('Legacy: The Posthumous Collection').
