We Took on 6 Overgrown Acres! (Taming Texas Ep. 1)

Welcome to Episode 1 of Taming Texas! We are taking on a little over 6 acres in the North Houston area that have been overgrown and largely untouched for nearly 20 years. This property is an old homesite where I spent a few years growing up, and over time the forest and invasive species have completely taken back over. The land is packed with 10- to 15-foot ragweed, invasive Chinese tallow trees, deadfall, poison ivy, and old trash piles. The long-term vision: clear out the land, remodel the old mobile home on-site to live in temporarily, and eventually design and build a custom home right here on this acreage. Before we can do that, there's massive site preparation ahead—reconnecting power, reviving the septic system, checking the well, and clearing out decades of overgrowth. In this first episode, I take you around the property to see where things stand and tackle today's project: digging out an old propane tank that narrowly escaped a massive fallen tree. Follow along as we come out each week, clean up the pasture, and document the entire journey from raw land to finished custom homestead.
