''KIKULACHO'' Short Film

KIKULACHO explores the destructive power of jealousy and betrayal within close relationships. The story follows Asha and Zuri, two inseparable best friends whose bond begins to crumble when Asha falls in love with Jared. Feeling neglected and replaced, Zuri allows jealousy to consume her. Instead of confronting her emotions honestly, she manipulates Jared with lies and deception, slowly driving a wedge between the couple until he turns against Asha. As Zuri finally gets what she wanted, she discovers that a relationship built on betrayal cannot bring genuine happiness. Guilt begins to haunt her, while Jared struggles to trust the very person who encouraged him to betray Asha. Their relationship falls apart under the weight of suspicion and regret. The film ends with Zuri reflecting on the friendship she destroyed. She begins to reach out to Asha but stops herself, leaving the audience wondering whether redemption is still possible. KIKULACHO is inspired by the Swahili proverb "Kikulacho ki nguoni mwako" ("What destroys you is often from within"), emphasizing that the deepest wounds are often inflicted by the people we love and trust the most.
