They Took Over a Battleship. They Didn’t Know the Cook Was a Navy SEAL

Welcome to Wrong Man Stories. Today, we’re recapping Under Siege (1992). Casey Ryback is a cook aboard the USS Missouri, a Navy battleship preparing for retirement. When armed hijackers use the captain’s birthday celebration to seize control of the ship, they take the crew prisoner and begin stealing its nuclear weapons. But the men behind the takeover have overlooked one person: the ordinary-looking cook, who is actually a former Navy SEAL with years of combat experience. With the crew locked away, Casey moves through the ship, using his training and knowledge of its layout to fight back. Joined by an entertainer caught in the takeover, he works to free the sailors and stop the hijackers before they can carry out their plan. What looks like a successful operation quickly becomes a deadly fight against the one man they failed to account for. Under Siege is an action thriller starring Steven Seagal, Tommy Lee Jones, and Gary Busey, following a former Navy SEAL working as a ship’s cook who fights to reclaim a hijacked battleship and save its crew.
