Elf Dances were created in the natural environment of the outdoors, in direct collaboration of inspiration, improvisation, performing creativity and nature. The characteristic of these dances is the folkloric and pagan element. The aim of the dances is to recycle "old" archetypal, already known patterns in a new and more modern guise, and they are characterized by irregular rhythms, changes in measures, but such a multimetric approach to composing does not stop the fluctuation of the idea itself, which is unique and original. In a technical sense, these dances are useful, because they explore the rhythm and movements of the right hand, and with unusual double notes in the left hand (sevenths, fourths, fifths) they contribute to the interesting development of the performer's technique. In short, the dances require clarity, character and good technical eloquence of the performer. The first 5 dances are written as concert etudes for violin solo, and the next 5 as duets for violin and cello.
Elf Dances No. 11 and 12 are written as concert etudes for solo instruments.
