This is a complete 1CC playthrough of FireShark for the Sega Genesis, played on the default Easy difficulty. While the Genesis version is noticeably more forgiving than its arcade counterpart, it still offers a fair and rewarding challenge. Like many shooters of its era, dying sends you back to a checkpoint with reduced power, and recovery can be punishing if you’re caught in a bad loop. The difference here is that FireShark’s difficulty curve isn’t as sharp as games like Gradius or other high‑pressure Toaplan titles, so recovery is possible with good routing and a bit of composure. In this run, I was knocked all the way down to the base shot halfway through the final stage after losing several lives in quick succession. Even so, the game’s pacing and checkpoint structure make it possible to rebuild, and I managed to pull out the 1CC in a somewhat anticlimactic final boss encounter. I’ve been playing this alongside Slap Fight MD over the past few months, and both have been great experiences on original hardware. I’d like to track down a copy of Truxton at some point, and I’m also considering picking up Grind Stormer to continue exploring more of Toaplan’s console library.
