Caroline Haddad / Jean-Sébastien Fecteau (CAN) rebound from an injury-disrupted previous season to claim silver, while Galina Maniachenko / Evgeni Zhigurski (UKR) take bronze. Canadian teams Julie Lawrenson / Shane Dennison and Jennifer Pregnolato / Sébastien Morin finish tenth and thirteenth respectively. The ice dance competition produces the championship's historic upset. Sylwia Nowak / Sebastian Kolasiński (POL) enter the free dance in the lead and hold off defending champions Ekaterina Svirina / Sergei Sakhnovski (RUS) becoming the first Polish skaters to win gold at an ISU Junior or Senior championship.
