How do you judge whether an IT project actually succeeded once it has been delivered? This video explains how to critically evaluate project outcomes against the original objectives and evidence, not just describe what was built. It covers the difference between personal reflection, using models such as Gibbs' reflective cycle, and objective evaluation of the project itself, and shows how to judge whether a project delivered real business value through benefits realisation. It then walks through building a post-implementation report, its typical structure, and how to write lessons learnt entries that are specific, balanced and genuinely actionable rather than vague. Every idea is shown through the Northbridge Dental Group website project case study, including a worked planned versus actual comparison and a sample lessons learnt log. This video is for OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Information Technology learners studying IT Project Management, HND and computing degree students, and anyone who needs to close out an IT project professionally and capture value for the next one.
