*Wadi Nakhr, Wadi Dham/Damm & Al Hamra* — some of the most stunning places to visit in Oman. This trip has it all: beautiful off-roading, dramatic mountains, refreshing wadis, and a truly authentic Omani stay in Al Hamra Old Town.
This was a *2-day trip* with an overnight stop in Al Hamra Old Town.

*⏱️ CHAPTERS*
*0:00 – Wadi Dham*
*3:24 – Al Hamra*
*5:53 – Wadi Nakhr Off-Road*
*7:05 – Wadi Nakhr Trek*
---
*DAY 1: WADI DHAM*
We headed straight to *Wadi Dham (upstream)* — our second time here.
(Watch our previous trip: [ • Wadi Damm / Wadi Dam / Wadi Dhum - Ibri -... ]( • Wadi Damm / Wadi Dam / Wadi Dhum - Ibri -... ))
Last time, we completely missed the entry point when descending (you must take a *right**). I was told “Dham” means *hidden in Arabic — and it really fits the place!
Wadi Dham is quite easy to reach, with just one tricky section where you need to *ascend/descend using a rope* (not abseiling — just rope support). On the way back, you can simply jump down from the top.
It had recently rained, so water levels were higher and the main pools looked a bit murky, but it didn’t take away from how awesome the place was.

HAMRA – OLD TOWN**
We stayed the night in *Al Hamra Old Town**, at a place called **Old Town House* (shown at 3:54).
Amazing experience if you want the true feel of an authentic Omani home. Highly recommended — very hospitable owner.
This was our second stay here. Watch the previous video:

##DAY 2: WADI NAKHR**
We were up by *5 AM* and drove toward **Wadi Nakhr**.
The off-roading through the gorge is fantastic, with spectacular views along the way.
If you've ever done the *Balcony Walk* in Jebel Shams, you can actually see Wadi Nakhr far below you. The off-road stretch is about *5 km**, and the trek begins at the **Heritage Village/Tourist Hotel* (operational only in winter).
*Trek Details*
*Duration:* ~1.5 hours each way
*Distance:* ~3 km
*Trail:* well-marked, with some steep sections
There are newly added *safety features* to help with the tricky parts.
My kids and a few others couldn’t complete it — the heat was picking up, we were running low on water, and the trail was getting tough for them. (Although, I think they were fine… it was the grown-ups losing their nerves 😅)
But for those who push through, this trek is **absolutely worth it**. Reaching the main pool feels like a proper achievement.
