The Bible: The Big Picture, pages 15-18

This sermon walks through the early chapters of God's redemptive plan as revealed in the Old Testament, tracing the thread of prophecy from the fall of man in Genesis through the Abrahamic covenant. Beginning with God's declaration in Genesis 3:15 that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent's head, the sermon establishes that the Old Testament is primarily concerned with events on the earth and with prophecy rather than mystery. We trace Satan's tactical responses to God's revealed plan, including the corruption of the human bloodline in Genesis 6, the rebellion at Babel, and the ongoing opposition to Israel. The Abrahamic covenant is presented as the framework through which God would establish a chosen nation, give them a specific land, and ultimately bless all the families of the earth. The sermon concludes by examining the middle wall of partition between Israel and the Gentiles, showing how it existed throughout the Old Testament period and into the early chapters of Acts, before being broken down in the dispensation of grace.
