Welcome to Session 5 of the CrowdStrike Certified Falcon Administrator (CCFA) training series. In this session, the focus is on understanding the concepts and prerequisites involved in onboarding endpoints into the CrowdStrike Falcon platform. The session begins with an overview of the agenda for endpoint onboarding and introduces the different operating systems supported by the Falcon sensor, including Windows client and server systems as well as various Linux distributions. Key concepts such as installation tokens and maintenance tokens are explained to help learners understand how CrowdStrike ensures secure sensor deployment, endpoint protection, and controlled maintenance operations. What’s Covered in This Session Endpoint Onboarding Overview Introduction to the process of onboarding endpoints into CrowdStrike Endpoint Security, including support for Windows client and server operating systems and multiple Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS, SuSE, and Amazon Linux. Installation and Maintenance Tokens Explanation of installation tokens and their role in managing sensor deployment. The session also covers maintenance tokens and how they are used for repair, uninstallation, decommissioning, and protecting the Falcon sensor from unauthorized tampering. Deployment Planning Factors Overview of important factors that influence endpoint deployment strategies, including regulatory and location constraints, organizational structure (centralized vs decentralized environments), and networking architecture such as isolated or shared networks. Endpoint Environment Considerations Discussion on endpoint scale and placement, including environments with different endpoint counts, geographic distribution, isolated networks, and application environments such as production and non-production systems. Endpoint types such as BYOD, corporate domain-joined systems, and workgroup machines are also discussed. Onboarding Methods Overview of the different methods used to deploy the CrowdStrike Falcon sensor, including UI-based installation, command-line installation, deployment using software packaging solutions such as MDM, SCCM, BigFix, and Tanium, golden image deployment strategies, and Windows-based methods such as Group Policy or Software Center. System Requirements and Compatibility Introduction to the hardware, software, and network requirements required for successful sensor deployment. CrowdStrike Documentation Portal Guidance on accessing the CrowdStrike documentation portal directly from the Falcon console and understanding how to reference official documentation for sensor deployment steps, system requirements, and operating system compatibility. In the next session, the training will move into a complete hands-on demonstration showing the step-by-step process of deploying the CrowdStrike Falcon sensor on a Windows virtual machine.
