April 8, 1969-Expos vs. Mets (Opening Day) (WJRZ Radio)

-Opening day of the 1969 Mets season saw them lose to the Montreal Expos in their first ever game, offering little suggestion of the miracle year to come (in fact the Newsday columnist in the article shown sarcastically said that since the Mets futility of not being able to win Opening Day had continued against an expansion team, they were liable to win a pennant before they ever won an opener and he ended up being right!) -The Expos broadcast has been available for some time but here is the Mets broadcast with Lindsey Nelson, Bob Murphy and Ralph Kiner recorded from WJRZ-Hackensack, NJ (the Mets didn't have a particularly strong affiliate that year, airing on WJRZ and WABC-FM).
