Is Life In The DR REALLY Better?

Living in the Dominican Republic changed our lives… but not always in the ways people think. In this honest conversation, my husband and I sit down to talk about the REAL side of living abroad, the good, the frustrating, the emotional, and everything in between. A lot of people online make moving abroad look like a perfect dream, but the truth is, every lifestyle comes with tradeoffs. We discuss the biggest differences between life in the U.S. and life in the DR, mental peace vs convenience, family life, adapting to a new culture, and why moving abroad doesn’t automatically fix internal problems. This is not a “DR is perfect” video. This is just our real experience. Topics We Discuss: • Is life in the DR really better? • The hardest adjustments living abroad • American mindset vs Dominican mindset • Family life in the Dominican Republic • The truth about moving abroad • Mental peace vs convenience • Culture shock & adapting • Why some expats struggle abroad If you’ve ever thought about moving abroad, leaving the U.S., or creating a different lifestyle for your family, this conversation is for you.
