In February 2026, CATL and Changan unveiled the Nevo A06, which they call the first mass-production passenger car with a sodium-ion battery. CATL’s Naxtra cells reach 175 Wh/kg, roughly level with mainstream LFP batteries, with strong cold-weather ratings. All-solid-state batteries, meanwhile, did not reach mass production in 2025, and the first small batches are dated 2027.
This video covers the sodium-ion rollout and its gaps, how sodium-ion works and what it gives up, why solid-state keeps slipping and who has dated 2027, and what each chemistry means for cars and grid storage. It separates what is proven, what is claimed, and what is still speculative.
Facts are current as of October 14, 2026.
