We stayed for three nights from September 13th to 16th at Site 159 on the primary Pulpit Rock side of the park. Surrounded by beautiful mixed-grass valleys, towering rock formations, and the pristine Twin Springs Trout Stream, this location delivers an incredible "wilderness vibe" while keeping you just minutes away from all the culture and conveniences of town.

🛣️ Site Types: 56 back-in electric sites, 19 pull-through electric sites, and 37 designated tent spaces divided across two sides connected by a walking bridge. (Note: This tour covers the primary Pulpit Rock side, sites 1-170).
🔌 Hookups: Partial hookups. The campground offers premium 30-amp and 50-amp electricity at the RV loops. There are no direct individual water hookups at the campsites, but shared freshwater hydrants are spaced throughout.
⚡ Generator Hours: Quiet hours run strictly from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM daily.
🚘 Max Vehicle Length: Highly accommodating to big rigs, long travel trailers, fifth wheels, and camper vans up to 60 feet.
🛰️ Connectivity: Flawless! Despite the massive limestone bluffs towering nearby, the open sky layout above provided a completely clear Starlink connection. Cellular signal across the park is incredibly strong.
🚻 Restrooms: Clean public comfort stations featuring flush toilets and hot shower facilities are easily accessible on property.
🧼 Amenities: Equipped with a heavy-duty picnic table and a steel campfire ring with a charcoal grill at every site. Features public dump stations, a picnic shelter, playground equipment, a basketball hoop, a volleyball net, on-site ice/wood sales, and a canoe/kayak landing.
🚴 DRIFTLESS TRAIL SYSTEM: A paved multi-use recreation trail hooks up directly to the campground loop, taking you straight into Downtown Decorah, Luther College, or the famous 11-mile Trout Run Trail loop!

⚠️ INSIDER ROAD TRIP & SAFETY UPDATES:
🔄 TWO-SIDED FOOTPRINT: Twin Springs loop (sites 200–242) sits across the walking bridge but features a completely separate driving entryway from the main road.
📞 HYBRID BOOKING RULES: 37 trailer sites are reserveable online, while the remaining 38 trailer slots are held back for day-of phone bookings or FCFS arrivals. Phone lines open daily at 8:00 AM at (563)382-9551.
🎒 PULL-THROUGH ALERT: Pull-through lanes are designed to hold two separate trailers at once. The online fee covers one rig—a second unit can be added on-site for $22/night. Base rates cover 2 adults; extra adults incur an $8 nightly fee.
🚫 SITE UPKEEP: To keep the campground green, the park prohibits ground rugs or carpets on the grass. Golf carts are completely banned.
🪵 MAINTENANCE & WOOD LAWS: Mondays and Tuesdays are active mowing days, so keep belongings off the grass. Outside firewood is completely banned—bundles must be purchased at the registration booth.
🐾 Pets: Highly pet-friendly! Dogs are fully welcome but must remain on a physical leash and cannot be left unattended.
