At the stern of Icon of the Seas, behind a white picket fence and a mailbox, sits a three-storey suite with a slide running through it. More than half its weeks for 2024 were sold before the ship carried a single paying passenger. Every Saturday in Miami, the family inside hands it back.
This is the Ultimate Family Townhouse, the most expensive room on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas. It measures 1,772 square feet inside, across decks 7, 8 and 9, with its own gate into Surfside, the ship's family neighbourhood. Inside are two bedrooms, a slide from the kids' room to the living area, a cinema room, a balcony whirlpool and a backyard with table tennis.
The video covers what Star Class and a Royal Genie add to the stay, and every published price, from Michael Bayley's $75,000-a-week average to one family's $150,000 trip. It follows the suite through turnaround day at PortMiami, where it runs on the same clock as the cheapest cabin on board. It ends with what happened next: the townhouse copied onto Star of the Seas and Legend of the Seas, and Hero of the Seas adding a treehouse suite listed at well over $200,000 a week.
