Ruth(Explained: Hesed, the Kinsman-Redeemer & David’s Lineage)

Discover the powerful biblical story of Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz — a tale of radical loyalty (*hesed*), redemption, and divine providence that helped shape the lineage of King David and Jesus of Nazareth. Set against the turbulent backdrop of the Judges era, a severe famine forces Elimelech and Naomi out of Bethlehem into Moab. After a decade of heartbreak leaves Naomi widowed and childless alongside her daughters-in-law, Ruth makes a defining vow: "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay." Follow their journey back to Bethlehem as Ruth takes advantage of the ancient Law of Gleaning to provide for Naomi, catching the attention of a wealthy, upright landowner named Boaz. Through ancient Near Eastern customs — from the midnight request on the threshing floor to the legal confrontation at the city gates involving the Go'el (Kinsman-Redeemer) — witness how Boaz steps in to secure their redemption and restore hope. --- ⏱️ *Timestamps / Chapters* *00:00* – Introduction: Famine in Bethlehem *00:26* – Elimelech’s Family & Tragedy in Moab *00:59* – Naomi’s Plight in the Ancient Near East *01:19* – The Return Journey & Ruth’s Hesed (Devotion) *02:10* – Arrival in Bethlehem: Naomi Becomes Mara *02:42* – Ruth Gleans & Meets Boaz *03:37* – Boaz's Generosity & Protection *04:16* – Understanding the Kinsman-Redeemer (*Go’el*) *04:42* – The Threshing Floor Petition *05:39* – The City Gate: Legal Settlement & The Sandal Custom *07:00* – Boaz & Ruth Marry: Obed is Born *07:26* – The Genealogy: From Perez to David and Beyond --- 🔔 *Support & Follow* If you enjoyed this breakdown of biblical history and storytelling, make sure to: *Like* 👍 *Subscribe* 🔔 to our channel for more in-depth Bible studies! *Comment* 💬 below with your favorite takeaway from the Book of Ruth! #BookOfRuth #BibleStudy #Hesed #BiblicalHistory #BoazAndRuth #KinsmanRedeemer
