Here is an unboxing and attempted, but failed, checkout of a highly uncommon Nortel cordless phone. It appears to be a commercial-grade phone but intended for use on a regular (analog) POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) phone line! Very exciting for someone like me who doesn't own a proprietary Nortel PBX yet, since that means I can just use it on my main phone line. However, as I"d suspected, the original battery has leaked and damaged a small portion of the circuit board. It doesn't look to be too bad, but I'm gonna have to wait and watch the affected area for several weeks after my cleaning procedure, which has already been done, to make sure the corrosion doesn't come back. If it does, I'll just repeat my cleaning and then wait some more weeks to see if it comes back, and then just repeat that process until it stops coming back. Since this is a 900MHz DSS (digital spread spectrum) cordless phone, I'm really hoping I can get it working so I can experience its super-long range that it most likely has! Stay tuned for my video of cleaning/repairing the damage from that battery, and my checkout video. As of September 2026, I am now trying to increase my channel's annual watch-hours to the point I can become monetized, in hopes of covering most of the costs of the things I show on here. I'm focusing on this now because starting next February, YouTube will double the amount of annual watch-hours required to be a monetized channel, going from 4,000 to 8,000, which I think is a particularly greedy move. If you'd like to help me reach this goal, please feel free to watch my videos and share them with others you think might get something out of them! That's all I can ask of any of you, and thank you!
