From a Sacred Balinese Temple to the World’s Strangest Coffee 🇮🇩

Bali is full of surprises — and this day took us from one of its sacred temples to one of the most unusual coffee experiences in the world. 🇮🇩 We started at Pura Puseh Desa Batuan, a centuries-old Balinese Hindu temple in Batuan Village. After putting on the traditional temple clothing, we explored its beautiful courtyards, intricate stone carvings, shrines and gateways while learning more about the religious traditions and architecture that make Balinese temples so fascinating. After leaving the temple, the day took a completely different direction. Following a couple of food stops and another scooter journey through Bali, we arrived at Agro Alas Harum Bali to discover the story behind Kopi Luwak — Bali's famous coffee traditionally associated with the Asian palm civet. ( The Luwak — the animal behind Bali's famous Kopi Luwak ). We explored the plantation, saw some of the plants and ingredients grown there, learned about the process behind Luwak coffee and finished with a tasting overlooking the beautiful tropical surroundings. From sacred Balinese traditions to temples, food, jungle, coffee and a very unusual animal encounter, this turned into one of the most varied days of our Bali journey. Agro Alas Harum Bali Bali, Indonesia 🇮🇩 A tropical agro-tourism experience where we learned about Luwak coffee, explored the plantation and sampled a selection of locally produced coffees and teas. ☕ ABOUT LUWAK COFFEE Kopi Luwak is one of Indonesia's most unusual and internationally famous coffees. Coffee cherries are eaten by Asian palm civets, and the beans pass through the animal's digestive system before being collected, cleaned, processed, roasted and brewed.
