She knew scammers could spoof a bank’s phone number. She even told the caller she was going to hang up and call her bank herself. Then something happened that convinced her the call had to be legitimate: a real security code showed up in the same text thread she normally receives messages from her bank. She gave the caller the code. And ultimately, she lost $10,000.
