While I investigate the ongoing impact of react channels on an unhealthy creator ecosystem, I have a plan to help heal it from the grass roots.
A Crusade of Constructive Criticism.
Come Criticize my Criticism in the Discord: / discord
Here's the outline.
A campaign to provide useful meaningful feedback to smaller creators and get them up in quality and exposure in the algorithm. Once a day, if you see a smaller creator on your feed, watch their video. Watch the entire thing before posting. The feedback needs to be centered on things like Why you stayed, why you clicked, why you didn't click, why you wanted to leave. Obviously any feedback is fine, but this will be the most useful to a small creator.
The format is as follows:
Video Feedback -
Good
Bad
Good
The rules:
NO politics. "You voted for Trump/Kamala" "You're pro/anti-LGBT" Etc. That stuff isn't going to help anyone and will just lead to bickering. You obviously can comment that you didn't like the inclusion of politics, but leave it at that and don't engage if they get mad about it.
NO moral Judgement. Unless they're breaking the law, you're not here to teach them about what's right and wrong. Same as before, you can say gambling or AI usage turned you off, but you're not here to make them repent or apologize.
Be respectful and understanding. Criticizing something that someone else made can feel like a personal attack, and they may lash out in response. Step back. Don't engage. If they don't want to take your feedback, that's on them. If you try to brow beat them into seeing it your way they'll just retreat and insulate themselves.
Only do this for recent videos. No point on providing feedback on something if they might have already addressed it or changed their style in some way.
