What changes when someone who’s been struggling to make ends meet finally buys their first rental? In this fictional example, Joe’s first property doesn’t make him rich or let him quit his job. It gives him a little breathing room—and a choice: spend the extra money, or keep his lifestyle steady while he builds reserves and works toward longer-term goals. We’ll look at how rental income can change the way someone thinks about paychecks, expenses, repairs, saving, and building wealth over time. The character and numbers are illustrative. Rental results vary, and rent collected is not the same as profit after expenses. What would you do with an extra $200 a month after rental costs: save it, pay down debt, or put it toward another goal? Let me know in the comments.
