ଆମେ କୁଆଡ଼େ ଯିବୁ ? Puri News | CM Mohan Majhi’s Big Decision Raises Concerns Among Shopkeepers

A major decision has been taken regarding street vendors on Puri’s Bada Danda, following a review meeting on development projects in Puri district chaired by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The government plans to remove roadside vendors from the entire stretch of Bada Danda and urgently rehabilitate them near Shree Setu. The move aims to make Bada Danda obstruction-free and improve movement for devotees visiting the Jagannath Temple. However, the decision has raised fresh concerns among hundreds of street vendors about their livelihoods and rehabilitation. Since 2023, around 1,600 vendors between Medical Square and the Jagannath Temple had reportedly been removed, while financial assistance was provided to 1,208 vendors for rehabilitation. The government had also reportedly promised monthly assistance of ₹15,000 until shops near Shree Setu became operational. However, vendors claim that payments have not been received for 12 months. #Puri #BadaDanda #MohanCharanMajhi #OdishaNews #PuriNews #StreetVendors #Hawkers #ShreeSetu #JagannathTemple #PuriDevelopment #OdishaGovernment #StreetVendorRehabilitation #PuriHawkers #OdishaPolitics #BreakingNews #LatestNews Welcome to News18 Odia, your go-to destination for the latest news and updates from across India and beyond.
