Welcome to the official channel of Tate Boone
They carried these mountains west with them.
When the families of Appalachia loaded the wagons and went out past the Mississippi, they didn't take much. A rifle, a plow, a Bible — and the hymns their grandmothers had sung back in the hollows. Out there, there was no church house. No steeple, no organ, no preacher. Just the open sky, a fire burning low, and a few worn voices carrying the old songs across the dark.
This is 33 minutes of old-time Appalachian gospel — fiddle, banjo, mandolin, autoharp, upright bass, and two plain voices. No drums. No polish. Recorded the way it would have sounded in a frontier chapel with the door standing open.
Every hymn here says the same thing in a different way: the Lord goes on ahead of you, into country you have never seen.
Put it on while you work. Let it play in the kitchen. Sing along if you know the way.

These are new hymns written the old Appalachian way — the same instruments, the same close harmony, the same scriptures the old folks sang from. Nothing modern about them but the day they were written.
If one of these songs finds you today, leave a comment and tell us where you're listening from. We read every one.
