Starting off a Story Time recap from Friday @ Gridlife before I get into the races on Sat/Sun eventually, because I'm quite proud of what we accomplished. Practice 1 and 2 went ok, the car was feeling fine but it was just plain slow. I was doing 1:42's which was depressing when I was expecting to be running in the 1:40's. I kept trying to convince myself that it didn't matter because I should just be happy to get out there and race whatever happens. But luckily @kirbybuilt convinced me to toss the car on the compliance dyno to check, and we dyno'd only 177whp which was almost 20hp down on what I should be running! We swapped some restrictor plates around to get the power back into the right window and got geared up for GLTC Qualifying.
Immediately the car was alive again and I had to quickly readjust my braking points to suit the increased speeds and I started clicking off mid 1:39's which I was pretty happy about. I chipped away to a 1:59.3 predictive before being blocked by some traffic into the last corner which ruined the lap. I went into a couple cool-down laps to try again but I couldn't find the time again and started making some mistakes from pushing too hard.
Took a second to breathe and reset myself before starting what would be the last lap of Qualifying. Then I somehow deliveried the best lap I've done here ever. In testing here back in June I only did a 1:40.7 lap with the car lighter and with more power, so when I came across the line to a 1:38.8 I could not believe it for a second. I knew 38's would be pretty competitive and it landed me P8 out of 35 cars! We were riding the high while it lasted and it felt amazing to put the car up into the top 10 right next to all the season regular front runners. Super grateful for the friends, family, spectators and my sponsors @qualitymufflervisalia & @riactionperformance that showed me support and helped me get here and live a longtime dream.

The "formula" I chose to try was a torque-bias setup with the original intake manifold and targeting a low/mid rpm range powerband coupled with a short gearbox for great acceleration. I think this validated my ideas and the car was quite competitive to my surprise.
