The project, taken up under the ‘Bikashita Gaon, Bikashita Odisha’ scheme, included a changing room and steps beside the village cremation pond. Villagers allege that a long-running dispute between two groups led to the destruction of the structure, wasting public money. The project was intended to provide privacy and convenience, particularly for women bathing in the pond. Residents allege that the steps were damaged first, followed by the changing room as construction was nearing completion. Polasara BDO Shashibhushan Mahapatra said an investigation is underway to identify those responsible. He assured that the project would be rebuilt for villagers and that necessary action would be taken against those found responsible.
