The JOG to Poole and back. Aboard Elaine Again.

I was lucky enough to be invited to Join Ed and the crew of Elaine Again for the JOG race to Cowes to Poole and back. Due to the forecast and tides the original lap of the island was canceled and we had a short tack up the north coast of the Solent which was spicy to say the least. The wind built up to 28 kts and we had some rather large wind over tide. After a five hour beat with lots of tidal and tactical manoeuvres we had a short blast downwind to the finish where we first over the water but second on corrected time. The next day we had a gentle downwind run back to Cowes but with a slightly late start we struggled for position. All round it was one of my best sailboat racing experiences in a long time. massive thanks to Ed and all the crew for putting up with me poking my phone in their faces all the way there and back.
