The Man Who Built Bigger Barns

There is a man in one of Jesus's parables that God calls a fool. He did not steal, cheat, or oppress anyone. He had a good harvest and made a sensible plan - and most of us, reading it cold, would call it wisdom. Read the plan again and count the pronouns. My crops, my barns, my grain, my goods, my soul. In four sentences he says 'I' or 'my' eleven times. No wife, no workers, no neighbour, no God. That is what makes him a fool - not the wealth. The isolation.
