CareDock: How we reimagined the hospital bedside to improve patient care?

What if a single, small change could dramatically improve a patient's hospital experience and save nurses hundreds of hours? In this talk, I share the story of CareDock®, a 2-level bedside organiser we developed to solve the common but overlooked problem of patients struggling to reach their essentials. Through empathy-driven research, we uncovered the frustrations of patients who feel like a burden and nurses who lose precious time on non-medical tasks. I walk you through how we applied Design Thinking and TRIZ principles to resolve the core contradiction of adding storage without creating clutter, and how our process of prototyping and testing led to a simple, durable, and patient-centred solution. This project is a testament to how focusing on "the power of small things" can lead to innovations that improve healthcare for everyone.
